I was at a local Walmart and happened to glance in the Coinstar reject tray. I got a bit excited when I saw a pile of coins in hopes that there would be some silver. Unfortunately there were no silver coins, but there were still a few older foreign ones including one from 1942 and one from 1946. There ended up being 20 foreign coins from 6 countries and a pewter religious medallion. It was the most coins I've found at one time in a Coinstar.

I'd call this a great score. Something more for your memories and keeper box.

I'll probably keep the two older ones and give the rest to my nephew to play with. Whenever he gets a foreign coin he looks up information on the country it came from, so it'll be educational for him.

You might have some coins worth saving in those. I said that mostly because so many times Ive dug a foreign coin and I think or hope that's its a rare 15 or 1600s gold presado or a pine tree or a pear tree or some super old super rare coin and there never worth a thing!!! I didn't mean to down your finds It was me venting a little is all. You never know what kind of rare coins people toss into those coin stars Ive heard people finding lots of silver even a gold ring a few weeks ago. I would check em to be sure Good jpb!!!

I didn't take your post as being negative at all. I'm by no means a coin expect, but I do know that the vast majority of foreign coins aren't worth more than face value (at an exchange rate, at that). I just like the thought of finding a 75 year old coin from another country that ended up in the tray of machine at a Walmart. Just think of the stories that coin could tell!
