Will visit Denver (and other Colorado locations, yet unknown,) in late June

    Hi,

I'm using a White's XLT and mostly hunting for coins. I've heard the Colorado soil is full of minerals so it won't be like detecting in Oregon.

    Any tips?

    Thanks,

    Mike

The soil here in Colorado is very mineralized, so you want to make sure that you bring a widescan coil. I use two Tesoros, one is auto tracking and the other is manual GB. My Vaquero, with the manual GB runs totally silent with a widescan coil. With a concentric coil, I always have to mess with the GB adjustment. I would say that I use a concentric coil on either detector about 25% of the time, the other 75% of the time is with a widescan. Also, get ready to dig lots of those big ring pull tabs. On my Tesoros they sound just like silver coins, those things drive me nuts!
