According to the Pennsylvania Department of Stateā€™s unofficial election results, Rhoades received 67,347 votes, or about 63 percent, to be re-elected to his seat in the stateā€™s 29th Senatorial District. Rhoades was being challenged by Democrat Peter J. Symons, 53, of Butler Township, and independent Dennis Baylor, 58, of Hamburg.

Symons, county prothonotary since 1996, received 37,468 votes, about 35 percent, while Baylor received 2,298 votes, a little more than 2 percent.
