Got my 8yr old grandson off the school bus the last day of school before the holidays.
He was so full of himself with his news of the day that he couldn't sit still in the pickup seat on the ride back up the hollow to the house.
"How was your day,Bub ? "I lead into him.
"GREAT ,PAP ! I got a part in next month's school play ."
"Good deal.What part do you have ? "
"I'm going to play the part of a man that's been married 20 years ,"he squeaked.
I ruminated on that a bit , shifted gears ,and spat out the window before I spoke....
" Keep at it,Bubby; next time maybe they'll give you a speaking part ."
