Possibly a contemporary single-wand form of the popular devining rods.

Wonder who is marketing this device to the Iraquis...would like to get in on the ground floor...Hell, I'd sell it to them at a reduced price of $20K each in gross lots...

You kinda wonder if maybe its a case of a turban being wound too tight...

Sand comes with first purchase, but you have to act fast.

Do you pick door number 1, 2, or 3

Behind one of them is a bomb that explodes when you open the door.

You can use this device to help make your decision.

These have, however, been used successfully to detect land mines.

The proper procedure is to equip a half dozen or so people with the device, and have them walk along grid lines within an area. When a very loud pulse of sound, accompanied by a bright flash, is detected by observers outside the grid area, the presence of a land mine is indicated. The exact location where the mine was buried is then determined by finding the center of the resultant scattered body parts.

The use of bomb detection within transporting vehicles has been similarly successful, except there is a time delay between the scanning of the vehicle and the positive indications.
An evil group is comprised of the insane, who, out of fear, imagine that they must conspire to destroy those who are honest and able. A good group is made up of honest people, who could each survive on their own, yet work together openly for betterment for themselves and others.

    Excellent point EE!
We all know there's no such thing as a "hunted out" location.  Let's stop using that phrase to describe a park out of which you just dug a pile of coins!  Obviously that particular place wasn't "hunted out", right?
