Well Bob recommeds in the centre of the blades when it spins its frequency is atuned to the gold hope this helps

I do something similar by slamming my coil into the ground. This pushes the lines of eyther force down into the soil further where they can hit metal and then be reflected back to my detector. If you hit a flat rock hard enough you can "see" right through it this way.









Though sometimes the guys in Australia get upset and pound back so it gets too hard to hear the good signals. "Shaddup up there, Yank!" ::)
