    copper

I've noticed not too many people have been posting their copper finds here. Is this because their afraid of the DNR seeing their posts? I found a really nice point but am a little nervous about putting it on here,"dont want to draw too much attention if you know what I mean.

I believe your assumption is correct.

If your recovery was within legal bounds (and it's not going on ebay) you should be fine.
I'm sure a lot of us would love to see your point. . . and could ALL learn from your recovery.

It would also be worthwhile making a few personal notes (for your eyes only) about your recovery:
Such as: GPS coordinates, location photos, depth of recovery, photos of your find, etc. You never know
when information like this may become important for future research. I personally keep records like
    this for all my finds.

There are a lot of us out there that have made similar finds . . . myself included. . . that have
donated recoveries such as this to State Museums. The sad part of this scenario is that many
of these donated "finds" never find their way out of storage for "others" to see. . . truly sad.
    (sorry for the rant)

Excellent recovery & all the best for your future hunts

I'd say just post it and say you found it in your back yard. The law is just a piece of paper, there is nothing wrong with having an interest in what's in our nation's ground.
Don't let the truth get in the way of a good story.
If you want a peice of fruit from the tree, you don't ask, you just gotta' go up there and pluck it.
