So, I see everyone creating log's of their finds, and being new to CRH this year, I thought I'd do the same. I'm low-end on the purchases still (have yet to buy a full box of anything), but eventually I suspect I'll purchase in greater quantities.
Anyways, first some background:

About 1/2 month ago: (1)1967 Kennedy (out of $40 in rolls).
About 1/2 month ago: 1945P Jefferson, undated Buffalo (out of about $20 in rolls).

Now for my most recent mix:

$110 halve rolls: skunked
$50 nickel rolls: 1936 Buffalo, (2)1940, 1940D, 1942P, (2)1949D, 1952, (2)1956, (2)1957D, (5)1958
$10 cent rolls: 1929, 1939, 1945, 1952D (I'm gonna need a new collection book for the older finds 8-))

I think I'll also log a final silver troy ounce total (modest amounts at this point, for sure):

(1) 1965-1970 Kennedy Half Dollar (40%)
(2) 1942-1945 WWII Silver Nickel (35%)

Total Troy Ounces Silver/Value to date:
0.2604 / $5.53

Happy hunting, all!

Looks like u had some good finds today, esp from just $100 search. If the bank u got the $70 mwr halves today had any more I'd go back to buy them as soon as I could. Btw, that '65D half u listed is probably a '68D. Either that or u have found one very rare interesting coin lol.

Well looks like you're off to a good start. Hope u have continued success.

H$H!

whoops! My bad. It is in fact a 1969D. I was pleasantly surprised, indeed, for only $100. I'll be heading back to that bank and I'll let you know how it goes. Thanks again and good hunting!

Well, I went back to the bank where I got my 3 silver halves, highly anticipating more of the same. So, I purchased $300 worth of halves. I am quickly learning this hobby can be quite temperamental; I was skunked. Just can't figure that out...
Anyways, I also purchased my first box of nickels and first box of cents. Kinda cool...and, kinda heavy. I never knew. Anyways, got skunked on the nickel silver search as well, but did manage to fill in a couple circles in my books as well as receive some unique world coinage. The pennies I have yet to sift thru.

$300 Halve mwr: skunked
$100 Nickel mwr: (2)1939, 1940, 1940S, (2)1941, 1941D, 1941S, (3)1946, 1949, (4)1949D, 1949S, 1951D, 1952D, 1952S, 1953, (2)1953D, 1953S, (2)1954, (4)1954D, 1956, (2)1958, (2)1959, and:
1980 Republic of Kenya 50c piece
2004 Commonwealth of Bahamas 5c piece.

and, 6 Canadian one cents: 1958, 1959, 1980, (2)1987, 1998
I would have thought a one cent box would yield more. It is indeed a hunt.

Yeah u just never know what u might find from roll to roll or box to box with this hobby lol. But that's what kinda keeps it interesting. I had similar results with my nickel box over the wknd and I thought I was going to get skunked too till I found a dirty '43P in the 5th to the last roll. And I'm about to get skunked on my half box from today but my next box could be a good one.

Good luck and HH!

Well u found some silver in your second half box so that's good. And yes the '87, '02-present and all S mint halves are NIFC. And u didn't find any silver in the nickel box but finding a '20 buffalo is about as good as finding a silver nickel - or maybe even better if its in nice condition. I figure if I can at least find one silver, one dated buffalo, or a semi key date or the key date '50D Jefferson nickel then its not a skunk. So Id say u did pretty good with both boxes.

Good luck & HH!

Couple things to note to myself as peculiar while going through the motions of dumping and purchasing today:
At one of my dump banks (I use WF because, 1) I do all my banking with them and, 2) they have the most branches in town in which to split up my returns), the teller (a guy, which seems rare these days) comes back to me after tallying up the coins and says, "Any keepers?" For a second I wasn't sure what to say, not having been pigeon holed like that before. "I found a couple dates I didn't have", I responded. I guess being new to this game I didn't really want people do know exactly what I was doing with all these coins (one, because of the unspoken rule not to mention silver) but, realistically, how hard could it be figure out? I know now, openly, one teller has. Nonetheless, he seemed to not have any problem handling the coins and doing his job, so I guess all is cool.

Another thing happen for the first time today: I actually had a bank turn me down when I asked (politely, of course) if I could purchase some half dollars. Strangely, I've gotten coinage from this bank before, but this one branch just doesn't seem to give it up freely (she claimed I would need an account). I'm not surprised at this, as I have been reading others here having the same road block. I guess it's a sign -- I've yet to score a single piece of silver from that chain, anyways.

However, the one bank in town that has rewarded me with nearly all my silver at this early stage have no strange questions and is eager to give me whatever I ask, despite not having an account there. In fact, I just today purchased the last of their halves, and I know this because the teller (female) has been giving me updates on how much they have and, if I were to buy them out, when they will receive more. Very cool. I'm thinking of starting a bank account there solely on the comradely alone (well, and the streak of silver it seems to offer ;)).

So, I mentioned I bought them out today of their halve pieces:
$110 loose rolls (mwr): 1968D
Yep, I'm liking this bank.
