Got a box of nickels today. 1943 P & 1927 buffalo

Also got 2 Canadian nickels, 1989 & 2006. Finally found a Bahamas one as well.

Next week I will have 2 boxes of halves and nickels which I am stoked for!

Any box with a buffalo or a war nickel is a successful box in my book. Keep us up to date on how your nickel folder is coming along. I shocked myself a few months ago when I pulled a 1950-D and a 1950 out of the same box. My folder is completely full except for some of the war nickels, 1939-D and the 1938 dates. The Jefferson nickel series is awesome for a coin roll hunter.

Nice variety. I found a gold plated '66 Kennedy before. Probably won't find another one of those!

Just keep plugging away on those nickels. I think I'm down to about eight empty holes in my folder--just missing all the 1938's. the 1939-D, and the lower mintage war nickels. It's all about the volume, so it's only a matter of time until you fill the rest of those holes. I found the 1950-D and 1950 a few months ago and was completely elated. Even the rarest key dates are out there circulating.

Nickel box 3 1944 P, 1945 D

Also found 1 Canadian and a Bahamas coin. Lastly, found another 1950 but tossed it back for another future CRH.

Did you toss back a 1950 nickel? Those are rare (especially the 1950-D).

Yeah I tossed the 1950 back. I only keep the war nickels and coins prior to Jefferson. I've gotten bunches of pre1960s

Are the pre1960s really worth saving? I mean is their a market for them? If so I would strictly keep them to resell them because I have gotten so many

Hey SilverCounselor, I actually toss back 99% of all the pre 60's myself. They are a dime a dozen. However there are a few you should always keep, they do have a numismatic value and there is a market for them. The 1950 is the hardest year to find for Jefferson nickels... low mintage, especially for the 1950 D. I haven't looked at the 2015 red book yet, but a 1950 is good to AU condition could fetch about $10 or more... not bad for a nickel.

A war nickel is only worth $.95 right now... so I would say that 1950 is really worth saving.

I also keep an eye out for varieties like the 49, 54, and 55 mint mark errors. I also keep all the 38, and 39 Jefferson's.

If you don't already have one, you're best bet is to get a red book and check out to see what Jefferson's are low mintage and worth keeping. HH!

Here's an old post on the 1950 D from BuffaloBoy and I posted my 1950 D on it too. It is really hard to find!

Half Box 4: skunk

Nickel Box 4: 1926 Buffalo, 1943 P, 1944 D, 1944 D and 1945 P

This nickel box ties my best box of 5 silver nickels a few months ago. I am disappointed that I skunk out on halves nearly every time but love that nickels have been producing for me thus far.

That's the best nickel box I've ever seen anyone get. Nice.

Nickel Box 6: skunked

I work for a school and today was canceled due to weather so I decided to go get another box of nickels. While I was there I took a peak at her coin drawer and saw she had about 3 or 4 silver quarters!!! I didn't ask for them because I know the other teller that works collects as well. All the tellers save their silver for him so I didnt want to step on toes and ruin the relationship there. I think next week I will take them some pizza for lunch to better my relationships. I did talk with the teller and she said that she will look into ordering me Eisenhowers! I will find out next week if they do which will be amazing.

Wow, I didn't know it was possible to order Eisenhowers. I'll be interested to see what happens with that. Keep us posted.
