Pretty uneventful boxes this week generally, including only 13 Wheaties and 8 Canadians from 5,000 pennies (and all common dates at that). Next week will likely be a bit on the low side as well.. we are snowed in here (yes, it's April. No, that isn't normal here. Yes, it's annoying.) Hopefully I'll manage to get out and get some boxes regardless.

BOX #28 (2500 pennies)

341 copper (13.64%)

5 Wheaties (1939, 1942, 1944D, 1949, 1949S)

2 errors/oddities (1 wood grain, 1 misaligned die)

1 Canadians (1983)

16 2009 commemorative

Other Notes: 2002 penny with "AR" and the shape of Arkansas state stamped/engraved in it (counterstamped penny)

---------------------------------------------------------

BOX #29 (2500 pennies)

372 copper (14.88%)

8 Wheaties (1940S, 1946 X2, 1950S, 1952D, 1953S, 1954S, 1958D)

4 errors/oddities (3 wood grain, 1 misaligned die)

7 Canadians (1976, 1979 X2, 1984, 1986, 1988, 1991)

As expected, it ended up being a slow week so I ended up getting a bunch of dimes instead. Not amazing results but there was one lone silver in the second to last roll... so dirty I almost missed it; would have if I hadn't glanced at the date. Usually my dime rolls from this bank turn up a few Canadians per ten rolls, so at the moment wondering if they started getting culled somewhere along the line. 'Course, could have just been unlucky. Regardless, the silver hoard groweth!

Not an amazing week for Wheaties, but the Bahamas penny definitely made for a pleasant surprise. Always nice to find something I hadn't seen yet :treasurechest:

Glad you're finding something. I'm having trouble believing you're finding that many "woodies". How about some pics. Also would like to see a pic of the possible rpm.

Greetings Enamel, How goes the hunt for you?

The "RPM" looked possible with the naked eye, but after putting it under a microscope today, I suspect it isn't. Second opinion welcome of course.. sorry about the glare/lower res:
S20180426_0003.jpg

Some of the woodies from the last box.. they do seem really common to me as well. Could always be I was told wrong.

Related note, is there a better way to upload batches of pictures here? I go through the whole "insert image+from computer+browse...+upload image" process. It does not seem to want to let me upload more than one at once.

Box #34 was a bit of a surprise.. completely shattered my old record for copper. Might have been more impressive if the copper were also Wheaties, but I'm not complaining. It is so far above average I can only assume it was some kind of collection dump. As much as 30% of the rolls were probably solid or near-solid copper. I even got my first 2018 penny (D) from the same box to boot.
I also got a new oldest Canadian penny for the second week in a row and a rather nice (suspected) greaser quarter in the few rolls I searched.

BOX #34 (2500 pennies)

1065 copper (42.6%)

3 Wheaties (1947S, 1950D, 1955S)

some sort of oddness on the right side of obverse and reverse. Haven't really looked into it yet. Part of me is thinking PMD but I kept it just because I haven't seen another like it.

Officially I have searched my 100,000th penny-from-boxes (lifetime). Unofficially, I actually searched my 100,000th penny sometime a week or two ago (but this is impossible to determine accurately because I wasn't keeping track at first when I was searching random rolls and partial boxes). Now lets head for 250,000!

BOX #40 (2500 pennies)

565 copper (22.6%)

6 Wheaties (1945, 1951D, 1952D, 1954D, 1955D, 1957D)

5 errors/oddities (3 wood grain, 2 unknown "blurry")

4 Canadians (1983, 1987, 1998, 2000)

28 2009 commemorative

Other Notes: 100,000th penny-from-a-box!

two odd pennies with a normal, crisp obverse and a "blurry, indistinct" obverse. It isn't my camera, they look the same to the eye. Not sure what I think they are.. maybe some kind of struck-through? Pictured is the 1980 I found; there is also a 1982 from the same box. I could also be seeing things again. :laughing7:
S20180531_0002.jpg S20180531_0003.jpg

---------------------------------------------------------

BOX #41 (2500 pennies)

400 copper (16%)

3 Wheaties (1935D, 1958D X2)

3 errors/oddities (2 wood grain, 1 unknown(plating bubble?))

7 Canadians (1950, 1961, 1971, 1973, 1975, 1993, 1994)

16 2009 commemorative

Other Notes:

Possibly a plating bubble or something similar, although it is a fair bit bigger than most of those I have seen.

The first two appear to be worn dies. The anomaly on the last one is definitely a plating bubble.

Well, one out of three isn't too shabby. Thanks Enamel!

Did you have any thoughts on those 'woodies' from the other week? I do seem to get a lot of them, a few pretty much every box. I had kind of just assumed they were very common.

They do appear to be woodies. However some of them could have details due to oily rollers in counters, this can be seen as environmental damage. If all woodies they are relatively minor compared to some I have seen. Maybe send Huntsman a pm and see what he thinks.

The drought is finally over folks; and over in a big way! Both boxes this week were absolutely beautiful, with one of them beating my old record of 30 wheaties-in-a-box and the other one being my 4th or 5th best box of all time. Both boxes also contained some rather shiny older coins, which of course now have a new home. Feels good to be back and kickin'.

BOX #54 (2500 pennies)

322 copper (12.88%)

39 Wheaties (1926, 1935S, 1936, 1939, 1940, 1942S X2, 1944S, 1945S X2, 1948S X2, 1951S X2, 1952D X5, 1952S, 1953S, 1954S X2, 1955D X5, 1956, 1956D X3, 1957D X3, 1958D X4)

3 errors/oddities (1 wood grain, 1 misaligned die, 1 unknown-likely PMD)

7 Canadians (1963, 1969, 1979, 1981, 1989, 1992, 2000)

Other Notes: 1957D ender, relatively high grade 1955D and 1957D. New wheatie record!

Rolls with one wheatie - 6 rolls
Rolls with two wheaties - 6 rolls
Rolls with three wheaties - 1 rolls
Rolls with four wheaties - 3 rolls

What do you folks make of this little oddball? Obviously PMD in my opinion, but I am more interested in what happened to it.. looks stamped or crushed by something lettered. The reverse has some similar 'damage'.

EDIT:: on second thought, after a very close look at it, the visible letter imprint on the obverse almost seems to spell out part of "one cent". So now I'm just not sure at all... perhaps I was too hasty in my declaration of PMD.
