Hello ShinyPackRat, interesting to see your results and surprised to see some nearly mint wheaties almost like and old collection has been put back into circulation for ready cash, what a shame. I would have never guessed how many wheaties are still in circulation! A few silver dimes and nickles as well.

The silvers are straight up collectable as they can be sold for silver content and that money can be used to further your collection or maybe to purchase a metal detector if you are interested in detecting. What state do you live in? Currently I am in Southern California though I expect to be moving when I locate a new job.

I like your pictures, the oddities are interesting to see like the Penney with no date. Many years ago I was hiking out of a mountain canyon and picked up off the ground a thing that at a distance looked like a metal plug out of an electrical box, it turned out to be a 'V' Nickel. I can picture a Gold Miner hiking in or out of the canyon and pulling out his coin purse for some reason and dropping that nickel. So interesting what a person can happen across while doing various activities. Thank you for sharing and again the tally you put up of your coin finds is interesting to see.................63bkpkr

Greetings!
I am just glad I have the opportunity to 'rescue' them from circulation before they turn all nasty like so many other coins. Give 'em a nice relatively-safe home. It's still unfortunate how many people don't realize the real value of such things, they just see a penny. Then again, I wouldn't be finding anything if they did.

I am currently in western Montana, planning to move to the Virginia area 'someday'. A metal detector is absolutely on the list, but money is pretty tight around here so like moving to the east it is a 'someday' item.
I'm definitely a fan of penny boxes.. there is something interesting in pretty much any box. Seems like nickels might be the same way, although I haven't done many of them yet. I hope to get more into the silver hunt eventually, probably never completely leave cents though.

Very nice! I'm still waiting for my first V Nickel. There were several among the coins I've picked up from relatives but I have yet to actually find one. Might have to actually search some nickels for that though.

Slightly above average week with a few 1920's finds and some bonus nickels for fun!
Sidenote: I've stopped keeping 2009's. I've just got too many of them at this point and no real plans to do anything with them. I'll continue counting them for funsies though.

I've started feeling like I'm finding more greasers than I should (something like 5 or 6 so far this year).. I need to make a mental note to do some research on possible more-common alternatives. I keep all my oddities in any case, they can be re-examined dozens of times in coming years as experience grows if need be.

A bit low on Wheaties this week but I suppose that is fair after last week's box. Fingers crossed for some higher numbers next week.

No pictures for the next week or so, cats gone and broke my camera. New one on the way.
Pretty nice to see my second boxed Indian head cent ever, even if it is beat up pretty badly. It really looks like it went through a woodchipper or something, massive gouges across both sides, partly bent over. I can't even imagine how it made it through a coin counter. Still good to see. One more and it'll be a new record for a year!

April 7th - April 13th Coin Hunting Results

Bit of a lackluster week, we've all been there. Next week's boxes are better, promise
I've also started metal detecting (finally!), which is cutting a fair bit into CRH time. Might reduce weekly boxes soon.
