Have you tried putting several rings on small plastic or wood discs with a string marked in inches through the middle ? Follow the tide out and sink the ring into the liquid sand. As the sand hardens (doesn't take long) pull the string up slight until the ring is at the right depth which in turn levels the ring to the sands surface giving the best depth performance you can expect. Then check depth and the meter reading.
Suprising how deep (or often not) some detectors can manage.

Great post! If you guys want gold the cold hard facts are you have to dig anything from foil to zinc penny range. If it makes a beep... dig it.

That is the truth. There's no other way to get the gold. You gotta dig lots of trash. But if it was any easier, everybody would do it and there wouldn't be anything left for us. I kind of like the challenge of it.

If you want really deep gold with the Deus, 12" plus you are doing to dig any kind of conductive signal you get. It will more than likely come in with a good high tone and every time we detected it, the TID was...............98 or 99 and repeatable. Did not wrap around into the ferrous side. My point is you are missing stuff, good stuff, if you are not digging it all. Be very aware of this and don't dismiss it, the high TID numbers. Out of the ground TID's with this machine are definately different.
