Gold can ring in anywhere from foil from zinc penny just like any other machine. To be sure to find it you have to dig it all.

Yep, gold makes you pay for it in hard work. However gold rings will be a solid hit with generally stable VDI numbers. If its a cracked or broken ring, all bets are off.
Chains that I've tested can be all over the map depending how they lay. Earrings will generally be in the foil range and bounce the numbers also.
