Tylerbdad has used the Deus in the water with some success. Hopefully he will chime in on this.

I have used my Deus in fresh water. I say go for it. But WARNING don't let control unit get away from you and get wet. I bought a waterproof box at Walmart in the sporting goods section near the flotation devices. It was $6.

Sounds hokey but I hang it around my neck with control unit in it

I have used my deus once so far, in fresh water. I made my own Antena wire that goes directly to my ws5's. I will get a water proof housing for the controller soon though. First water hunt was last week in my old home town. Worked quite well, but was a little chatty, as there was a mix of black sand. Did find a George V dime though and a few other trinkets. I didn't water hunt long, but am pleased how it performed. I have the 11" coil and it seems to go through the water nicely. My arm held up well....

Making your own kit is quite cheap and effective. Cost me maybe $8 in cable and a few dollars for velcro straps, to affix the cable.
Cheap, effective and a quick, fun project!

Someone stated they are going to make a waterproof version of the deus by the end of the year in another forum.

Are you using an antenna of any type?

I purchased a Arcya waterproof case for a Iphone 4 or 4s and used the protective cover from the Deus stem mount glued to the back.
Then I made-up an antenna and attached it with Velcro strips.
I haven't hunted with it but in testing it worked great.
I also bought a SCUBA dry case with waterproof earbuds incase I wanted to dive with the Deus, but that one costs big bucks.
I'll look for pics if anyone wants to see them.
