WTH a White Hot Rock???
So My Buddy and I finally got out for our first hunt of the fall season.
We figured with the couple of rains maybe we could get a shovel into the ground again.
Out looking for some gold rush relics and came upon some old dredgings.
We were hitting the basic iron junk, shotgun casings and a few early riveted shovel heads.
So we knew we were in a good place and were hoping for maybe some buckles, buttons or hopefully a coin.
We had gone over this 50 square yard area and were headed back towards the truck when I get this low solid 47 hit on my Deus running the HF9" coil at 28khz, full tones, 0 disc, 1 iron, 4 audio, 90 sen, 2.5 rect and tracking GB
I swing back and forth a few times to check it, stick my shovel in a bit and kick this white rock and a little dirt to the side.
The signal goes away... So swing over the dirt and rock and bang it's back.
I'm thinking I've never seen a white hot rock

So I reach down and pick it up, rub off some dirt and ...WOW...
There's a bunch of YELLOW stuff on the side of it!!!!

An absolutely first for me.
Always wanted to find a GOLD coin, but I think this is better and rarer.
It weighs 3/4lb!! Not all gold but there has to be a bunch in there.
Looks real nice in my finds cabinet.

I have to say I checked a lot of white rocks after that...

Thanks for looking

That is one very very nice specimen! Definitely a hot rock... just not of the sort you were thinking of. Color me envious.

No, not what I was thinking of finding Iron Buzz, I never thought that something like this would pop out of the ground.
I can't keep my hands off of it.... it's so cool

Now I'm like a bird dog that you made chase a laser pointer, can't get him to look for birds.
So now all I want to do is check white rocks...

The 100K question is how to remove the gold from the quartz? That I would love to know!

Unless you're mining, you typically don't. It's curiosity-value and monetary value is (generally) greater as a specimen.

However, if you were to encounter enough to make it worthwhile, you'd crush them up to a fine powder and pan the gold out.
Or use a highbanker or related thing for greater volumes.

Well, Congrats on the find! It's awesome! I'd tempted to go back over and try a higher frequency. Maybe there's more!

Don't worry this "Hot Rock" will stay as it is...
Now that we have had a little more rain I'll be going back to give it another going over and I will try 54khz just to see.

Thank you all for the kind words
