Gare's remote button mod is pretty sweet

After Gare helped me in the GI DOG Tag return, he enlightened me with this remote button mod and it is really nice. If there was one really big gripe that I have always had with the remote, it is the buttons. They can easily become a problem to push and can get very finicky to get them to respond if at all. In fact, I had to send mine in to get the buttons replaced a few months back. The mod is very simple, for around $2 to $5, you get the 3/8" 40 Surface Savers. These little 3/8" clear protectors are self adhesive backed. You simply take a cotton Q Tip and use a little Rubbing Alcohol to clean each button and attach. now you have raised buttons that are very easy to push. if you lose one, you have 34 of them left to use as replacements. I believe this will also keep some of the dirt/mud out from around the buttons as well. Should make using those membrane protectors a lot easier to use as well. Well done and thanks Gary, Jerry

Been doing that for years.
When they get loose and dirty I use a little Goo B Gone to clean it up then the alcohol and put a new button "cover" on.
One of the best mods out there and if you use a remote cover this Mod makes the buttons a lot easier to push.

I have only had one come off in 4 years. That was the pinpointer button; may leave that one off. It is easy to find and easier on the thumb.

Be careful of the amount of pressure you put on the buttons with the new mod. I understand it's possible to damage the membrane action by applying too much force.

yeah, before I sent my remote in to get repaired, I would have to work at two of the buttons to get them to respond. pushing down and to the side, was very annoying

I have used these to. I honestly dont use the buttons to much. I dont change to many settings on the XP Deus once I start hunting.
