I have a site that produces silver/coppers but the area is layered with old caps. (steel)
What setting would you suggest to filter out-or just reject enough to skip them.
They seem to come up in the 80's if recall
I can't help much with the coppers, but I dug a LOT of silver last summer from a site like that by using the D II's Relic program notched from 0-90. The signals can be a bit scratchy at times, but if you get a signal... dig it. You may be able to get the copper that way, too but it might not work as well. (I used Relic because of its superior depth)

I always use the XY screen with the D1 and I can't remember the last time I dug a bottlecap. Now I use the XY with the D2. I don't see any advantage to going by the numbers unless you're after a very specific target and plan on ignoring the rest.
