Some of those diving suits are downright scary! What about the one from 1715 with the guy inside carrying what appears to be a battle axe??!! Was he going to do battle on the bottom of a river or ocean??!! I really laughed when I saw the inflatable diving suit and envisioned poor old SADS rocketing towards the surface once the diving suit was inflated.

You know that would suck...
Floating along the bottom... and all of a sudden *POOF* your suit is inflated...
I can only think of one descriptive word for this experience...

I love to look at antique inventions, it's where it all began.

You can only imagine what was going through their minds when going under water for the first time.
There is another website out there somewhere that has a list of inventors who died trying their inventions for the first time.

Makes ya wonder how many of these suits "worked"...
And how many "testers" they went through in process.
