her feet and shins, hands and forearms and the head and upper chest are all porcelain?? the rest of her body is some sort of fabric stuffed. The letter looks like some oriental symbol and is the only marking I found on her.

Your doll was made in the 1970's and was bought by tons of collectors from an ad in Readers Digest.

She is affectionly called Walda, as she pops up, all over the place.

She has little value, as they were so common. But oh, you'll see them up for sale on ebay, usually because someone thinks they have a real treasure. ;)

PS: Have you ever played the game Mahjong - you'll see that same mark/character on a game piece. Doll was made in China.

The mark on the back is Japanese. I spent some time living there as a teenager and I remember it clearly. I am unsure what it represents, but it is definitely Japanese.

Very cool, thanks for info everyone! As far as I know the ex still has that doll but I always thought she was cute!
