    Help find deer I shot

I shot a nice 8 pointer with my bow and the rain washed away my blood trail. Can anyone help me find it if I have a map. It has to be in this 150 acre area because its surrounded by urban areas. They usually dont go very far and lay down and die but the woods are so thick and I cant seem to find it. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks, Rk

I found him. You da man Art

Wow, I can't believe it. I found him about 70 yards from the spot Art told me to look. I would have never found him because it was way off my property. I had to get permission to go there but after about 30 min of looking I found him. It looks like he drug himself up under some previt bushes. I know you were not right on, but it did put me in the right area. Thanks very much Art. I'll send you a pic when I get him mounted. First I have to kill one of comperable weight to have a cape. I walked around for hours with my wedding band on a string asking it to swing in the direction of my deer but kept going in circles. I guess I just needed someone who knew what they were doing. Now I'm a beleaver

Thanks for the kind works Robert. People think all they have to do is go to the spot and dig. I wish it was that easy. If I can get them in the area it is then up to them. I have lost a few deer and a Elk because of the weather. Good luck in you hunting …Art

Hey txkickergirl…I used his map to get the general area. I then used Google Earth. After I had Dowsed the spot and gotten a position fix I then entered the position again into Google Earth. They give you a good sized box showing the position. I print it and dowse it again. If I am in the box I know that’s as close as I am going to get. ..Art

I tried map dowsing to find the downed pilot Steve Fossett and I sucked at it...

He died because of my failure.

    Montana Jim,

Please don't beat yourself up over your failure to find the pilot in time.

If you were meant to find him you would have. He died because it was his time.
Sometimes things are out of our control. A higher power controlled his fate and ours is to have faith in that ultimate wisdom.

Believe me if I was that pilot I would have wanted any chance I could get! No mater how slim.

Remember, the next one might not be found because someone like you or Art didn't try.
The guilt would be the same but only if you let it.

    Thanks Buddy

It was kinda sarcasm... I'm not at all upset - nor do I blame myself...

There was a thread a while back (after Fossett went missing) and a few of us gave it a shot as a challenge. I have no dowsing skills, don't claim to have any, and although I tried, I never expected to come close. I would have been very suprised if I did.

This is a cool thread though because I know Art believes and has some proclaimed success - not just from himself but from others. This intriques me enough to wonder about it - but not enough to bank on it.

Thanks for the kind remarks Buddy... Happy Holidays!

    Sorry Didn't catch the sarcasm.

Perhaps next time though, it would be helpful to use the pendulum before such an important undertaking, to first ascertain that you should even be embarking on the quest in the first place.

Remember to ask the proper "may I".... "can I".... "should I" questions, then you will know up front if its even acceptable for you to dowse such an event.

I tried asking questions... I did use the needle thread method. I just ended up on the wrong mountain range, and, ironically, focused on the same area as the majority of the searches... several mountain ranges away. LOL

Art has skills... I'm just gonna stick to ready stories.

Ok . I'm sure Art would be the first to tell you that skills are learned through practice. Talent is something you are born with. Desire comes from within. If the desire is strong enough the skills can be learned. Everyone has the potential but not the desire. I'm sure you know which category you fall into.

I wish for all your desires to come true. And may the new year bring you peace and happiness!
