Placer and bedrock gold in Ireland

as I shared with Art many times before, Ireland is FULL of gold.

    http://www.emigrant.ie/index.php?opt...4931&Itemid=48
The Conroy diamonds & Gold exploration firm has said that a lake near Keady could be one of the largest untapped sites in the British Isles. Clay Lake, which is just over the border from a site where gold has been found in Monaghan by the same company, first came to attention more than twenty years ago when a farmer found a gold nugget weighing twenty-eight grammes in a stream bed near the lake. Traces of zinc have also been found just south of Clay Lake, which has been known primarily for its pike fishing. The gold nugget is now on display in the Ulster Museum.

    Today brings this news: -

I am panning in the wrong places :-)

Anyone care to dowse for any alluvial gold in this lake region?

    Hi An Ri Rua,
My dowse revealed in the green circled area small amounts of alluvial gold.
White circled area: Gold and silver coins (possible hoard)
Orange circle area: Roman bronze coins (possible hoard)
Red square area: Skirmish site with battlefield relics.
If you want, zoom in a bit and I'll pinpoint further.
    Thanks for posting your picture,
    Jon

Hi Jon, Sorry!! I meant to say thank you very much for doing this. North of the 'border' so will wait until after the (English) Queen and (the American King) Obama have visited down South in May before I venture up there. God knows what lunatic would cause mayhem and I'd be stuck in my car for hours in a security alert.

    Great dowsing. Thank you

    Hi An Ri Rua,
You're welcome! If you only have limited time, the white circled area would be where I would go first.

    Hi There An Ri Rua,
Can you zoom in a bit on that white circled area and get a clear picture?
I'd like to find out what dowsing would tell me.
    Thanks,
    Jon

Hey Ruairi..There seems to be an ancient river bed with placer gold on bed rock right through all that pretty farm land. You may be able to find gold along the road in low spots..the average bed rock depth is 5 feet…Art

    Thank you Jon,

sorry for the delayed follow-up. Out of action due to a bout of sinusitis and just trying to keep the day job in motion.

I really appreciate all of your contributions here.

    Hi There An Ri Rua,
No hurry, you gotta have your health!
Those sinus problems can get nasty, I've had a few bouts of those myself. Hope you feel better soon. There is not much more I can do from here unless you take some digital pics on site and post them.

Quite a lot of info here:
    http://www.gsi.ie/Programmes/Mineral...ts/Gold+CD.htm
You can get that cd when you email them. They send that to me free of charge. It is quite possible that they run out of them, if you will not hear from them let me know I can upload copy somewhere on filesonic or hotfile server.
