Thanks guys .The marker tree i found if it is one is in the top left corner.but it is bent over pointing to the tree you found art. Its a live oak and as big a round as a beach ball. I seen it on foot as i own this place. I will get down
there soon and check for the silver veins. We sluiced and paned that creek and found some lead and 3 small flakes of gold .

Yes I'm going over it. It takes some of us longer to finish up on the dowsing. When do you need it done by?

    Hi txnpuller,
I did a redowse and here is the revised picture.

My dowse revealed that in the white square there are multiple silver and gold coin caches about 2-1/2 feet deep in metal strongboxes w/approx. 30 lbs. of coins each. There is also some diamond jewelly in this area.
In the white circle is a silver and gold coin cache 2 feet deep in a metal strongbox w/approx. 35 lbs. of coins.
Green circle: Small platinum pocket with small nuggets about 10 feet deep, approx. 1/2lb. of platinum.
    Thanks for posting your picture,
    Jon

hi jon I'm new at this on site dowsing .theres a lot of ceder in the way. and was unable to find any thing. will a metal detector go down two feet?
I have a BH Lone star. The rods i am using are made of steel and are copper plated. I have found small things with them like a 45 long colt brass at the location of the square. I think i need to move the ceder trees as there in the way but could not start the dozer there 3 are 4 large live oak trees in your square that looks like good cache spots. Thanks I will keep youall posted.

    Helllo txnpuller,
At this point if you know when the rods are responding to a metal object then you should be ok.
If you are not sure then maybe practice at home with the rods then return to the site.
In the all metal mode that BH lonestar detector may pick up on a cache. Can you swing the detector close to the ground or is there lots of tall weeds/grass? If you walk a grid pattern with the rods they will respond to any metal object. You may want to try some type of grid pattern amongst the trees using the rods and the detector (not at the same time). Walk a pattern and mark where the rods respond then go back and check in all metal mode with the metal detector. You may also try holding the detector like you would a 2-box. Keep it level and in the all metal mode and see what you pick up.
I've found that this method with my metal detector will pick up on soup can size caches to about a quart size cache buried 1 to 2 feet deep while ignoring individual coins with the coil 12" to 18" off the ground in the all metal mode.
You may need to put on a strap to lower the detector.
Keep in mind though that all caches are not the same, but this method helps bridge the gap between picking up single coins and where a good 2 box unit starts to respond. There are lots of caches that the 2 box passes over that are in the size/depth range that I mentioned above.
Believe it or not, the coin shooter type metal detector's signal in all metal will still get down pretty far with the coil off the ground and will be sensitive to a cache.
Where I hunt in Michigan mineralisation is not an issue.
    Hope this helps,
    Jon

    Hi txnpuller,
I received a strong attraction for gold/silver coins in the large white circles and a weaker response in the smaller white circles.

Thanks Jon that helps a lot. We dowse that site and got the rods to cross in 4 places we dug 2 of the 4 and got nothing. We used a loader to dig with and rechecked with the rods and the hits where not there. we raked the pile and nothing. When the rods cross do we dig there? the 4 hits where about 25 feet
    apart. Thanks

    You are welcome,
Yes dig the area where they cross but try and make the hole wide as dowsing is not x marks the spot.
Do you have the rods baited with gold?
    How deep did you dig?
It's possible the gold is deeper than you might think it is.

When you get that hit, you need to move over 6 ft and walk a circle around it and flag any reactions. If you get any , move out 5 or 6 ft and circle again. You may not be to the real spot. You need to know if it is the spot, a cross target, a ring, or what.

Hi every one. We dug 3 feet deep 7 feet wide and 8 feet long. We was using a trac loader. No the rods are not baited. Can I hold a gold ring in my hands to bait them? Or would it be better to have the tips plated ? thanks guys

I'm right handed. If I'm using a rod with no bait chamber, I like to tape the gold ring to the rod on the antenna or hold the gold in my left hand.
I don't use 2 rods very often, maybe < 1% of my dowsing.
