Try this, can't be any better than the potential of a site you are prospecting. I got the rectangle areas first, then the circles.

Well this definitely enforces my beliefs in dowsing as this is a leased area myself and other prospect on. I was planning on getting some brazing rods to bend for dowsing tomorrow. I have done some research and see that baiting the rods help. Has anyone ever had their rods electro plated with gold to bait them?

Back when I first joined TreasureNet, there was a guy here on the dowsing board, who did L-rod gold checking for mine owners. He soldered a small nugget to the bend of each rod. I've read different opinions about baiting. I don't think it works for everyone or at least not consistently.

One baiting method is to hold a gold object in either your left or right hand (which ever hand works best). A gold ring can be worn, it would be much easier to dowse that way.

Art uses a film container (to hold a bait) drilled to put near the bends of his rods.

For bending rods, here is a thread that might help.

Wow that's a lot of spots. I'm lucky to have some awsome gold mining history and civil war history all around me. I'm hoping this gives me the edge I need to stack up some nuggets lol. I made a set of rods out of some welding rods last night and did not bait them I took my gold that I have found (its a very small ammount) the rods crossed when I was over them. I had my daughter hide it under a bowl she has l I keep 10 pink Bowls all the same size and tried twice and got the right one. Thank you so much for y'alls help here is another pic of a supposed gold rich area. Screenshot_2014-10-27-08-54-59.png

For placer gold, dowsing tends to pick out the better spots, of whatever is there (fines, pickers, nuggets, etc.). so, even in places known mostly for fine gold, you still could find plenty of better spots.

If you have a small enough stream to check with the L-rods, that would be good to practice first time. In dry desert situations, walking down middle of a wash will cause the rods to stay crossed over placer deposits. Of course, sometimes it can be from where a lot of quartz float has collected, rock containing small amounts of gold.

Here again, the circle areas were the last places dowsed. Most of the larger rectangle spots are the hits found first.
