Based only on the image my opinion is that the grassy area is likely a
small seep. This does not discount the possibility of a long collapsed or filled adit.

I have gold and silver bars in a sealed cave. They are 9 feet deep. I would use baited rods to trace the cave. I would use a ½ oz. gold vial with the lid on as bait. LRL man used to have technology to map these kinds of finds...Art

Art may be right, but the grassy area shows signs of higher moisture than the surrounding soil. The additional moisture could be due to how the fill was accomplished. Caution is urged in any excavation. Sudden collapse of improper fill or cover could be a problem.

Have fun, but be careful.

I would not dig that spot until I knew what is there. There maybe a big rock just below the surface. Any hole would have to be shored ...Art

When viewing the image, I am constantly distracted by the white stake in the small grass circle. What is it? If placed there, why?

Art gets an impression that a closed entrance is above this photo. Any other images available?

When I tried checking for water last time, I'd got a signal nearly exact spot as Art....but couldn't come up with an explanation for it. In fact, if any different would only have been a slight bit up.

Safety wise I would not dig any where near the white marker stake in the green grass area. That was a test site dug by previous miners, at 5 ft they ran into service water under pressure. They filled it back in with rocks and dirt and marked it. I don't want to see any one get hurt.

I think Barton means groundwater, as service water is a process at the water treatment plant in which the water is not treated for drinking but used for industrial purposes.

I was typing fast because of danger, misspelled should have been surface water or ground water close to the top of ground caused by pressure from down deep coming up through crevice from natural made water caverns. I don't like to dowse a picture after it has been worked by other dowsers because some times hit on negative energy causing wrong readings. The hits I am receiving puts the natural made caverns made by fast moving water 80 to 90 ft below the surface of the ground. I did not dowse for treasure cache's but there is natural gold real deep.

I wasn't really trying to identify the source, only did a water check and there was a good response.
