What ever is needed for the project I am working on--I am a cache hunter
Primary Interest:
Cache Hunting
I was told that in the 1960's that Karl Von Mueller recovered
200 pounds of High Grade Gold Ore from the Middle Fork of
Ute Creek under a large flat topped stone suitable for a place
to eat your meals on . This was by a tall dead pine tree.
I lack the understanding to post a google picture here--but
the google location of the gold cache is / was:
North 37 degrees 39 minutes and 33.89 seconds
West 107 degrees 26 minutes and 34.49 seconds

1. Can some one post this aerial photo --please.

2. Do you think that there may be more caches of gold ore still
existing in this general area?

3. Do you think that there are any surface outcropping deposits
of gold ore in the Ute creek drainage that a prospector could
visually / or through assays locate? Specifically ones that
outcrop to the top of the ground / rock you can see if you go there?

4. Are there any surface outcropping placer gold deposits / or placer
gold deposits that could be located with in 24" of the surface--
by digging with a pick and shovel--and be economically worked
by hand and a gold pan?

I want to thank all the dowsers for there help on this. On a side
note--about 25 years ago my house burned down to the ground.
It burned so thoroughly that from standing outside the west side
of the house--you could look east and see the mountains to the east
of my house or you could stand on the ground and look up and looking
through the floor and the roof you could see the stars at night.
Surprisingly I had a dowsed map by Bob Ater ( now dead ) that survived
the fire which totally destroyed my house--the map has fire scorch marks
on it --yet did not burn. I had thousands of books--totally burned up--
but a simple paper map Bob did for me of Ute Creek did not burn!
Again I want to thank any dowsers who work on this.

Sincerely, Barton

I'm not sure that this would have any bearing on the task of dowsing; however, stories of recovery of this cache under a large picnic-table rock on Middle Ute Creek appeared in print as early as 1961, in Temple's 'Golden Treasures of the San Juan.' In that story, this cache was recovered in the late 1930's.

Hello aarthrj3811,

I like your dowsed aerial photo. It is so detailed one should be able to easily locate the exact areas when out in the field.
I would think that the # 3 / # 4 should be easiest to locate with the ore / float.

Thank you very much for taking the time and making the effort to do your excellent aerial photo.

It is funny but years ago when I was up here --speaking of here and this general area ( higher in elevation )
It snowed on me in July. When exploring this area--higher up in elevation--I was crossing a snow bank--
--or snow --on the ground I was walking on the snow and suddenly the snow collapsed--under my weight--
and I was 10 feet below --the snow level--it was difficult getting out of that hole ( snow). When back in the back country
it is always a good idea to have a partner with you--for safety.

Any way Arthur--my intent was to say thank you.

Barton

To the best of my understanding--the Spanish had many mines / placer mining --operations in the San Juan Mountains.
I believe the French were also here mining gold and silver.
My theory is that for a prospector today to make a gold or silver strike in the US--your best chance for a recovery
would be exploring / prospecting in the San Juan Mountains. I think that there are both lode and placer deposits yet
to be discovered as well as rich mineral deposits Worked by the Spanish as well as groups that came long before the
Spanish. Once when I was up in the San Juan Mountains I saw a number of Dragons from 30' to 200 ' tall. Could
they have been made by the Chinese centuries earlier? I have also seen Gorillas 300 feet tall--at the Black Canyon
of the Gunnison--and the Gorilla was wearing a belt and had a purse on his belt. I have no idea who made the Gorilla
but my hunch is it was here before the Pilgrims' landed at Plymouth Rock and even before Cortez reached Mexico City.

These don't need to be sorted, all are from area 3. The crosshairs here the general spot for the coordinates you gave in opening post.

Once long ago US Forest Service used to help prospectors and miners. They even built cabins or miners cabins up in the mountains
where groups of miners could stay / live / cook their meals / while they panned gold and prospected. I wish the government now
would also help the unemployed this way.

Instead of harassing the prospectors or outlawing gold dredging they should be helping anyone who wants to work--and then go even further
make the satellite technology available to prospectors as well as paying dowsers to locate mineral deposits the prospectors can work.

A long time ago the Canadian govt had dowsers on their payroll going and helping small farmers locating water for farmers and people in
rural areas. They located hundreds of water wells to help out the people in need.

Several weeks ago when upgrading the laptop to WIN 10, my Google Earth disappeared, along with all my map pins. Not a safe place to keep map coordinates, most were for other people, so no great loss.

Barton, Thanks for posting this.

About what elevation were you at when you saw the gorilla and the dragon? Can you give more details? Did you get any pictures when you saw those? How far from these maps were those stone carvings?

I believe it was authenticated as genuine a very old map from India, I believe from the 1100's showing the North & South American continent!!
