1860's Fort?

1860ish Fort shows up on some maps but not actual location, narrowed it down to possibly this area. Anyone able to narrow it down further?

1860ish Fort shows up on some maps but not actual location, narrowed it down to possibly this area. Anyone able to narrow it down further?

look for a topographical map. that will give you some clues. The fort would possible have been able to overlook main traveled roads, but certianly wanted the best view to pretect itself. look for elevated flat areas with good lines of sight. they also needed a water source so add that the equation.(might have been a well or spring or something in very close proximity if not inside the fort.) keep thinking of how a fort functions and it will give more clues. Think troop movements as well, and how they got supplies in if it was sizable.
