A little more about the ego. The ego only sees what the ego wants to see to feel good about itself, for it's self-image. This means that it filters out reality. Of course money and power are the big ones. When we let these occupy our consciousness, our awareness, there is not much room left for dowsing. There are fewer "awareness units" available.

Awareness units, eh? Are these specific amounts of material? Like a cup or a tablespoon?

The best thing you can do is to find someone who can teach you with hands-on experience. This is the quickest way to learn. Just reading a book is not going to teach you, you have to get involved and use your own consciousness. There is no other way than to experience it for yourself. No amount of "proof" will convince your subconscious unless you prove it to yourself.

You're only trying to convince yourself that the skeptics are a big know-nothing group that can't possibly learn anything. That way you can feel good about yourself when you turn down their repeated requests for some kind of proof....
