My dad wants to go gold prospecting.

He's looking at building a small dredge using a motor (2-cycle) about the size of a weedeater mower.

We've been looking for motor pump combos ready made, but can't seem to find any.

Does anyone know of a source for small motor/pump combos like I'm describing?

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Trash pumps on ebay are cheap and work very well depending on the size and type dredge you are wanting.

In all honesty you could probably move more material with a shovel and sluice than you could with a weedeater sized motor/pump and dredge set up. That's pretty small it wouldn't be real efficient, especially if there is any size to the material. Is dredging legal where you are at? You could make a cool little crack dredge for the fun or novelty of it, or a crevice vacuum quite a few DIY's on here for those. You could also make a nice little bucket based highbanker that would work off a pump like that. Highbanker would probably provide the most fun and versatility for your panning expeditions. Good luck!
