Will I need a booster pump? How many GPH would I need?

Heya everyone;

I have been thinking about my 5" build and thinking about the amount of sand that I have to move.

My Engine is a Honda GX390 13hp motor and my pump is a Dahlke DP500.
I will be running my rebuilt T80 off the same engine.

It looks like with the 13hp engine the DP500 has been set up as a 6" dredge from a few outfitters.

Whelp I have about 100' 5" hose but will be using about 60' of it.

Will the DP500 by itself be enough to move material through 60' of hose at a depth no more than 15' and out of the water to the box?

If its not enough, I have my little Gold King pump, I have seen different flows for it from 170gpm to 200gpm.
If the DP500 is not enough by itself, would the Gold King be enough as a booster pump?

Thanks everyone.

I know right. lol
Its just going to be sand and pea gravel though.
We are going to try to eat through a mountain of sand to hopefully get to some good gold.

My reasoning is that if its a low enough pressure point to make such a huge pile of sale that there has to be gold under it. :D

Sure wish I had 15-20 foot of your hose BUT shipping would probly kill my project! Ive been wanting to build a 5 inch subbie but my knees and back have been holding me from doing it! I had to sell my 4 inch dredge because of it! I hate it when that happens!:BangHead:

Shipping probably would be horrible.
This stuff is so heavy duty that it makes a 5' coil when wrapping it up.
I was lucky to get it all in the bed of my truck.

Way overkill but just run a Y at the pump with one hose going to your powerjet and the other going to another powerjet 2/3 of the way to the nozzle OR a suction nozzle at the tip and 60' is doable. BUT makes no sense unless 50' deep hole.John

Wish ya could have seen Mad Dogs 10" with 2 vw precision pumps AND another 50hp diesel with yet ANOTHER precision pump to run that monster with 75' of 10" hose in 40+ feet of water. Absolutely scary suction with 3 jets. The Grass Valley catchment cleanup ran 5 engines/pumps with 500' of 12" hose or the EPA monster that cleaned out Keswick Dam with 1 1/2 miles of 30" hose utilizing 2- 30' towers that operated on positive displacement AND pumped the sludge over the 161' dam. . Yep you got the cash anything can be done.John

Holy heck, I feel tiny now! lol

I would have loved to see something like that too!
What happened to his dredge? Is it or others like it still around here?
