It has been said that gold boils out in waterfalls unless it haves like cave behind it where it could deposit the gold. .

Thats from a book i read no real experience dredging a waterfall.

I believe in the goldrush series they was after a loaded with gold bottom of a waterfall. .
But maybe everyone have they own belief against this.

Buzzard Massey once found an ancient waterfall in california, that hadnt
run in a long time, he spent all summer cleaning out the hole it had wallowed
out under it and got 8,800 ounces.

I met a guy about 50years ago that claimed the gold at the bottom of a remote waterfall in Alaska paid for his 90 foot yacht. He said he got enough gold to satisfy him and never went back. I was 21 years old at the time and more interested in chasing women and having fun than taking off for the frozen land. I makes sense to me that gold would accumulate at the bottom of a waterfall. Why not?

Seems to me if there is a fairly deep plunge pool with a gravel bar at the exit that it is a perfect gold trap. On the flip side you will have to move a bunch of gravel and cobble to get it.

in my experience gold likes to get stuck on the front of something...before it can make it to the back of something

Really depends on the shape of the bedrock, personally I'd clean it all up. Theres no right answer.
