Been a long wait. Lots of rain had raised the river level, covering up some good gold producing areas. This is my favorite combination of sluice bed matting....."Expanded aluminum over miners moss over vortex matting." It just gets nearly all that fine flour gold. Dream matting, in my experience, looses about 28% of that real fine stuff. Not knocking that matting, as it performs well with larger gold, with little concentrates. My combination produces more concentrates, but then, I get more gold. This is my result from 3 hours digging by myself, and 2 hours digging with my buddy.

Also dug up this old quartzite spearhead, and according to a local archaeologist, dates to around 8,000 years old!

It looks deceiving. That gold remaining is from back panning, in a small 10" Garrett pan. Less then a gram I figure. It's in my snuffer bottle with the rest from this years digs.

Any amount of time out in the back country is way better than a job in town But it is "Work" to haul equipment 'safely', move rocks & boulders, slip and slide on rocks. It is a choice but work out there is better for the overall well being of the person! IMHO :-) ...........63bkpkr
