My buddy in Edmonton, who I consider a mechanical genius, got an idea, and quickly came out with this prototype. Just the thing for long hikes on foot, or secret locations. For highbanking, a small water pump with battery will power this unit. You can also just rock the unit slightly. while pouring water down the hopper.

Of course, as a river pan, you just shovel in a shovel full of gravel, shake it back and forth in the water, then dump the concentrates (after several cycles) into a pail or plastic bag for separation later.

What do you guys think?

I personally have never "panned" for gold... but I like it... the idea... the materials used... etc.

Seems to be a winner from what I do know on the "physics" of panning etc.
