SO Happy I found a Thompson 12V Puffer on Craigslist yesterday. :hello2:
Fair deal and in great condition still. (Thank you Chuck!)

I've had the mindset on a 12V puffer for a while now to add to my prospecting arsenal.
I would have loved a whippet, but just can't afford that. The Thompson was second on my list.
Been looking and looking and never seem to see any used ones up for sale.
So I jumped on this one and how ironic it was in my area too....it was meant to be!!
Just in time for El Nino too :BangHead:
No matter, I'll have it ready for when things are drying up again.
Lots of places I want to go with it and looking forward to putting her to good use.

looking into a trailer for my Dirt bike which will allow me some serious access to remote areas.
Also modify a back pack frame for hike-in areas only.
Also a fold-up solar panel etc for those excursions.

Christmas has arrived early for me, now how do I tell the wife :icon_scratch:

Cheers and a Merry Christmas to all (Is that still legal to say?)

How to tell your wife is easy....
A: Make sure she is in a good mood
B: Make sure all throw-able objects have been removed from immediate area
C: Make sure you tell her from outside of her range of reach to prevent getting smacked
D: Be ready to run at all times during this process

Congrats on the new toys G!

Welcome to the club G, I've got two Thompsons as i just bought a new hand crank model last week (merry Christmas to dad). Used the 12v model for 2 years and it has more than paid for itself in gold. Then I decided that I wanted something that weighed even less for sampling where pack frame and boot leather are the only means in or out. I've learned that when using the puffers, classification to a 1/4" makes all the difference in recovery. Headed out to the Rand after the holiday and plan to work that machine like a rented mule. The Thompson hand crank weighs only 17 pounds complete........Now we're talk'n!

Thanks gents.
Good pointers Irishman.
As they say, begging for forgiveness is easier than begging for permission.
And if I show a little gold from it, then it'll smooth over quick.

HP,
I hope to hit the Randsburg area this holiday season too, but it looks like things might be too damp for the puffer.
We'll see. Just want to get out there.

Cheers to all.

Congratulations on the deal GBone. A lot of times the ground will only be too damp the first few inches . A little extra digging and you can be into good material. Merry Christmas and good luck

Indeed Rodoconner!
There really has not been much rain out there lately.
And major winds out there lately have surely dried it up.
What has fallen gets sucked up so quick by everything, the water never gets past that few inches.
We'll see what this new system brings too. Snow down to 3000 ft but that's mtns.
