one more riffle dead space question

well iam not sure what side of the riffle to put the dead space.they just say up or down steam.do i want them on the side that the dirt get there first or after it goes over the riffle??just want to make sure before i start welding.my kenne has the dead space after the dirt goes over,

the more i look in to riffles iam finding part of the problem is that riffles for water are backwards from the drywashing ones.so you have to be looking at ones for what you are dong.

The dead space is on the uphill side of the riffle, its backwards from a sluice.

HA! That old Becks was mine at one time... that image is in the front walk of my house. Sold it to a fella up in J Tree a couple of years ago. That design worked VERY well, heavy large beast though.

I liked the small sampler as it could go on top of my pack along with my other crevicing gear in a couple of 3 gallon Fire Clay patching buckets. They are Very Tough.
