Been dumpster diving for years..........as the opportunities present themselves. As a flooring contractor, I find new construction site metals to recycle, previous tenant treasures left behind (including college student discards) and current homeowners who wish to rid themselves of furniture and appliances while doing remodeling upgrades.........haven't had to purchase a washer or dryer in decades. Been given organs, pianos........still have a solid mahogany BR suit in storage for our master BR when the weather improves. The last dumpster finds included a closet of clothes fresh from the dry cleaner (still in the plastic) that yielded a NFL Eagles leather jacket. Also found a 1999 Derek Jeter figurine still in the unopened box, multiple styles of Eagles license plates, a small rock gem collection, numerous books, action figure toys and some loose change................... bring on the roll-backs...............

Excellent article. Thanks for posting! Been doing this for years in university and college towns. Never ventured into store dumpsters... but now...
