    Old electric meter box!

Old meters are pretty collectable. My buddy called me and told me this was in the dumpster and was too heavy for him to lift. I hauled it home! It looks like everything is there. I love the red lights. Should I take it apart and eBay the pieces, or leave it together for someone to restore? I'm having trouble finding a simular meters. This one is a westinghouse OB, but it is rectangular. Sure makes a great conversation piece. The lamps people make from these are pretty cool. Thanks for looking!Click image for larger version.

Great find! I'd have pulled that out of the dumpster, too. Are those face plates brass? And I like the bits of old schematic.

My vote is to keep it intact. I would try selling it at a show or high-end flea market. If that doesn't work, you can always piece it out to sell online.

The tamper bar through the wingnuts is hilarious.

Those red jeweled indicator lights are awesome.

Travel back a few decades or so and think of Nicola Tesla.

    Nice save!

Thanks for the posts! I am not sure if the face plates are brass or not but I love the style of writing on them. I like your idea of keeping it together Indigo, maybe I will try craigslist or facebook to sell it whole. It should stay together. Looking online the lamps they make with the meters are pretty cool. It would have been a shame for it to go to the dump. It is beastly heavy. Thanks again!

Very cool. Saving history is awesome and I'd keep it together as a unit for sale. Thanks for the look!

The OB meter is 115V so you could clean it up and mount on a board and make a table lamp. The disk will turn when the light is on.

I tried to sell it as one piece, it never sold. I ripped it apart and sold the meters on eBay. $175, not bad for a dumpster find. I thought about making one of those lamps, maybe next time.

Hey Tommy, it came from this place, a good little read. https://www.theoutbound.com/colorado...and-ghost-town
Iíll be hiking down there this summer I hope. It took up to much space in my little shop! I tried to sell it together but no one wanted it. Cliff
