Reading through the posts of dumpster finds reminded me of my best find.

It looked like someone had moved out of an office. The dumpster/trash cans were next to an office building. There were typical office stuff tossed out. A desk lamp, a bunch of pens and pencils, etc.
"But", what caught my eye was what appeared to be a "Solid Silver Box".
It looked like when it was made there were coins soldered on the top and sides. Those had been pried off,...... then they tossed the box in the trash.

I looked up the old post of when I posted it for sale,.... went like this,.....

Hello,

I have a solid silver jewelry box, it weighs nearly 2 pounds

I was looking to see if there is any interest.

It weighs over 800 grams, over 25 Troy ounces.

It's not too pretty, but it could be, if it were dressed up as a project it could really be something nice.

If there is some interest let me know and I'll post pictures from every angle.

A local jeweler tested it and it tested at over 90% silver.
He was pretty sure that it was a student project.
He also said, "silver in plate form, that thick, and that size, is not easy to come by,....
but would be available to a school.

Even the hinge and hinge pin were silver.

The guy who bought it was going to restore it, so it wasn't going to be melted down.

A "Win-Win"

"Pried off the coins, and tossed the box"

People throw out the darndest things!

Hey Noah,

I was trying to pull together some money to build up a detector.
Said to myself, "what do I have to sell so I don't have to use all out of pocket money"

I found that box in about,...... 2005?
Sold it in 2013.
I put it away for a rainy day, (and when the price of silver may be better).

I am a sometimes active dumpster diver at this time. I am in N. FL near a U. Students are known to throw out microwaves at the end of the year!
