Ozarks, I can't figure out how to swing more than 1 at a time. I know, it's a horrible thing!

Geobound, I tried the Equinox at a NJ outing in the fall, it IS nose heavy. I saw it at the beginning of the competitive hunt so my arms were not tired at the time I tried it. Someone once mentioned putting a counterbalance on the other end. That would defeat the whole purpose of a light weight machine.

Okay good, so it wasn't just my lazy arm. LOL......

I agree that it wouldn't make sense to have to add a strap to it, but I guess people will do whatever they have to do to get out and hunt.

The AT Pro is only a few grams different in weight, but I didn't find it poorly balanced at all.........again just my opinion.

I know that people were hoping this to be the Deus killer, but it just simply won't be, and the folks at Minelab aren't saying that either.

The guy from Minelab that I spoke to at the time in England pretty well confirmed that to me, so I have to think he knows more about it than us.

It is a very competitive machine with some higher end options, but with a lower end price.

If you want the Deus killer from Minelab then you need to be using the CTX..........and even that I wouldn't call the Deus killer because it simply isn't.

I can think of different sites and scenarios I would like to try Equinox in.

No one officially has said Equinox will trump fbs series, quite the opposite actually.

Equinox is waterproof and weighs near 3 pounds.
So if a person is looking for light weight and waterproof, you have a few choices.

A waterproof detector can come in handy besides using in streams, lakes and oceans.
When hunting when weather is threatening, especially in a more remote location. Even using during drizzling rain or even snow and sleet.

We don't have a good pic of Equinox performance yet.

We will with time.

And some folks may like or find more or less beneficial to them for detecting purposes.

Equinox is the cheapest waterproof multi freq available.

I will keep an open mind when using mine. To try and see its tendencies in certain situations.

Well, their advertisement says it has NO EQUAL and, unequaled performance in ALL conditions, which seems to negate everything you just said, according to Minelabs Ad here:

The one thing we agree on is Minelab's tone deaf advertising slogans. I bet minelab never thought that unequaled performance might not be such a great thing if Equinox is on the wrong side of the "less than" sign.

That's all I've been saying really is that they made some big big claims that so far haven't panned out. That was some bold advertising to put your name behind on an unproven detector.

I went back and read the entire thread, because my 600 will arrive tomorrow. Why am I excited about the Equinox? For me, it is beach hunting. I like hitting the beach. Compared to nuggetshooting, or digging plugs, it is the easiest form of metal detecting known to man, with one of the highest gold returns. I've used the Sand Shark for years in the wet sand and water, while gridding the dry sand with a Cibola; Silver; or Vaquero. I could never reconcile buying a $1,500.00 Excalibur, knowing the knobs would break and I would need a better shaft.

I am betting that the Equinox 600, is going to replace my Sand Shark, and my Vaquero. I put my money down, the bet was made, and now I am about to find out if I was right.

I think you nailed it. Now, back to reality. I have owned 9 machines since 1984. Two Whites, two old model Tesoros, three newer model Tesoros, an AT Pro and now a Deus. All have found nice stuff.

The salt water here is fairly treacherous to detect in, and I just plain avoid it. I get plenty of gold elsewhere. Like today I eyeballed a 14k ring lying in the grass. I thought I was seeing things. As I don't need a salt water machine, I have no real compulsion to buy any other machine right now.

I think the Equinox will be good in the salt water, but for my purposes, it's irrelevant. I need to see some dry dirt work with it before I jump on the bandwagon.

Jokes aside. Thanks to Minelab ,waterproof lightweight detectors just became affordable. Look at the pricing of the Nokta impact and subsequent scramble and price point of the Kruzer. How about the cost of Whites MX sport . $820 for whites Surf PI ??

Unbelievable the amount of movement the equinox has created in the detecting community. As stated before -Even if it's a lemon -Minelab have succeeded in waking up the industry and giving them the ***** slap with regard to pricepoint and genuinly trying to give detecorists what they want.

Again, two thumbs up to early adopters for taking the time to post content.
