Went to a local beach yesterday.

Jackson's Bay, Barry (Wales, UK)

Dug approx 25 holes...3 bits of lead, rest were ring pulls and bottle caps..ARGGH!!

Well....when I have some days like that, if anyone should ask, (anything good?) I tell them not really, it's more like I'm preforming a community service removing trash. There are times it sure feels that way.

It's technically true. Nobody else it out there gathering up trash. In fact most people are leaving more behind.

I'm curious why you didn't call Minelab, they would have sent you a new one right away.

Good point....I just phoned the metal detector shop i bought it from, here in the UK and they said to send it to them.

It literally arrived at my door a few minutes ago...yayy!

Next time I have a problem (hopefully never) I will definitely contact Minelab direct.

cheers
Matt

Good thread.
I have an Explorer SE and love it. Mainly hunt by tone and deep targets are pretty clear and identifiable. Don't know if a ctx would improve things.

I love the lighter weight, Bluetooth headphones and waterproof features of the 800.

My son likes his 800 for one reason. It forces him to dig everything. And, as we all know, digging everything results in more junk but better finds in the long run.

Yup. I was looking through my 4 years of finds the other day and it really stood out to me how many really interesting things I found the first year when I didn't "know" what a good signal was.
