I could have purchased a 600, but since I also do some nugget detecting with a XT-1800 now and then , I chose the 800. This way I don't have to take 2 detectors with me.

I would hazard a guess that the majority will be 800 owners. I think a lot of people looked at like I did, ie- Might as well spend a little bit more and get ALL the features available, even if they aren't what we will use most of the time.

I bought the 800, i wanted wireless and you get 2 options with the 800. And i thought I'd hate the full on back light on the 600, turns out i never use it anyway. Having never use the 600 cant comment on it but besides the ML80 phones for what i do i think it would be fine.

Love my 600, but I was also trying to keep within a budget. If you can swing it, it just makes sense to go for the 800.

I have a Deus already and didn't see the need for the 800 so I got the 600 which I love. if you want to be able to really fine tune your hunting, I would get the 800. if it is going to be your primary machine and can afford it, I would go with the 800 but the 600 has worked awesome for me as is. have found both gold and silver with it.

Minelab's 15% military discount swung me to the 800. $765 to my door.

I bought the 600 because at the time I couldn't get the 800 due to high demand. But now that I have many many hours on the 600, I feel no need to upgrade to 800.

I hunt in 50 tones, no disc and most of the time I max out the sens and recovery speed...I like it this way. Have dug bucket listers that were not on my list.

Awesome machine !!!

I'm glad you like hunting with those settings, but I HOPE you understand the relationship between depth and recovery speed settting!

I run high on sens because it enhances my audio of the deeper or on-edge target. I run max recovery because I hunt trashy areas and need good separation. Sure, It gets chatty on me, etc, etc but if it gets out of control, then I lower the sens a bit.

No gold to hunt around here where I live so the 600 was my choice. The difference in price for the 800 bought me the 6" coil and whether you buy the 600 or the 800, you really need to get the 6" coil if you hunt trashy areas. It picks through trash like a laser.:icon_thumright: Thank you Minelab!:notworthy: Just a small sample of what the 600 has done for me and I don't get out as much as most to hunt.

I bought the 800 and I love it. I'm actually thinking about adding the CTX 3030 to my arsenal just as soon as my rich uncle dies

800 here. More options the better for me. And yes, if you can get the 6" coil, DO IT!!! It combs through trash like nothing I've ever used. Really make me slow down too.
