Has anybody tested a recent return unit that had the problem? I hope they fixed the problem.

crazy, the bad part is how you had the one fail after 15 minutes and this one after a single dunking so no guaranty except time in water.

Calabash, give it a burial at sea (bathtub) for an hour or so, to make sure. There are very few guarantees in life, and nothing like getting to a site and your chosen machine breaks.

I'm gonna dunk mine in my dog's pool tomorrow and see what happens. The weather is too hot to use it and there is plenty warranty left.

Your dog has a pool? Awesome. Sounds nice till you clean the pool. What kind of dog?

He's a 7 month old mini australian shepherd named Rowdy. And yes he lives up to the name. He loves water and it gets hot here in Southeast Texas so I bought him a kiddie pool. 20190725_112449.jpg

Now that's a nice looking pup. I have cats. They don't want a pool. "Rowdy" - priceless. My new betta fish is named "Spunky", also for a good reason.

Ok guys, I dunked mine in the dog pool under about 6" of water for an hour. It was powered on and worked fine the whole time. I pulled it out and found a nickel buried about 4" deep. Still working great. No burp needed.

So what say you, can I trust it or is a deeper test needed?

I think that would be ok. Do it again a few months before the warranty expires. Caution beats regrets.

Now I noticed my speaker gets muffled bad when in the water, but seems fine after awhile out of the water, is that a burping issue??

Might just have to dry out...if it stays that way it might be a burping issue.

I think further under water means more pressure on the unit, so you absolutely need to submerge more than 6 inches to test it. I think these people dunking it in their bathtubs are doing themselves an injustice...unless ofcourse you have a 6 foot deep tub. It may hold fine at 6 inches and the first time you go out with it on a real water hunt and put it under at 18 to 30 inches, all of a sudden it let's loose.

That's what I was thinking. I understand water pressure as I am a scuba diver but I don't know at what depth these issues are occurring. I haven't noticed anyone saying how deep they were when it happened. That's what I was hoping to hear. It could be that it doesn't take much pressure to cause the leak depending on the cause.

In my case I doubt mine will ever see more than 18" deep. In fact I may not intentionally submerge the box except in a wave. If I want to go deeper I'll probably use my CZ21.

Took the 600 in 4 ft for 6 hours....worked great no leaks thank god !! Third or fourth time underwater but definitely the longest I've had it submerged.

Was the box 4ft deep or just the water depth?
