Do you mean the charging contact? If so then no, you don't need to cover it. But if you aren't using headphones you won't hear any sounds from the Nox as soon as the head goes underwater.

Took my Equi 800 in saltwater all the time. 0 issues. The mag charging area was open and the headset port was capped, but if water gets in headset area it is seperated from main electronics. Can get wet. I submerged my control unit all the time when I was living in S Fl. Found a lot more chest deep.

Remember to shower the saltwater off the machine and take off the coil cover and wash out the sand.

Yup no problem in the water. Just rinse it off in fresh water when you're done.

I have taken my 600 into the ocean as well and every day when my electrical contacts stay wet the warning triangle shows up until I wipe the contacts off and my contacts always corrode just have to clean them off or it will not recharge

If you coat the contacts with some silicone gel, that can help with any corrosion.

I found on e$%^#@Ba site, charge covers, I bought two one for machine and one for wireless system. I think they were shipped from across the pond. work great. probably don't need but wanted to try them out.
