The 800 wireless headphones were not clear for my hearing. Kind of sounded muddy, with no good mid or high tones. I went with TROND Bluetooth Headphones with Microphone Over Ear, APTX Low Latency, Wireless Bluetooth Headphones. They are much improved for my hearing than the original headphones shihpped with the 800. Remember Equinox 800 is 4.2 not 5.0. I could not get 5.0 headphones to work with the 800 for the obvious reasons.

I don’t think BT 5.0 should be an issue, in general as it is “supposed” to be backwards compatible with 4.X BT devices. I have successfully tested a number of BT 5.0 APTX-LL phones that readily pair up with the Equinox. That’s not to say that there may be specific BT 5.0 headphones that have trouble pairing up, just as there may be BT 4.X phones that have pairing issues for a number of reasons due to the finicky nature of BT and the tendency of some manufacturers putting out product that may not be designed to be 100% to the BT spec standard. FWIW. The Tronds do have slightly better audio quality than the supplied ML BT phones IMO. As do a number of other compatible models that I have summarized in this post:

I only tried it with one 5.0 and that was a Miccus pair of headphones and could not get it to work and the nice Miccus customer support rep could not help me. Plus the Trond sounds great with my iPhone listening to music. Better than Apple AirPods.
