Sounds like it. Did it start acting up after you got it wet? Maybe dry it out real good and install it again to see.

Wiggle the coil wire at the coil strain relief see if that affects it, then do same at connection on back of main housing does that affect it? There is a circuit board inside coil under the resin, it could also be failing.

Update I went home and put the 11in coil and run it and it was running like champ, no noise what so ever , I did clean it so maybe EMI in both places ???

It could be EMI in the area you were hunting was high. Switch to auto +3 if you didn't try that already next time. I know i went to a site the other day. I was on manual sensitivity 27 and it was making some noise, so i tried backing it off, helped some, but it didn't become stable until I switched to auto +3.

Most of the time, hitting the noise cancel will take care of EMI.
