I detest when a coined is altered like this.....a coin is technically ungradable and is worth no more than face value....plus i think it is a rip off!

Luckly They are only doing it to the new Dollars
which will never be worth anything
because they will rot away eventually.

But I can't believe people are paying such outrageous
prices for a $1.00 coin with a picture pasted on it.

Eventually the paste will dry out & the pic will fall off anyway.

& Forget about giving your local Coin Dealer anything but a Laugh
If you bring it in for Grading & Value.

First thing I'd do is tell them I'd give them .75 Because I need to make a Profit.

Then I would Rip the Pic off the top.

Then I'd throw the pic in the trash
and the dollar in my Change Jar :P

I only buy from the US Mint and no one else!

However, I did not know it was a picture "pasted" onto the coin...interesting!

Thanks for the article!

From the above Link.

"practice of superimposing colorized images"

"A superimposed image is entirely different from and obscures the coin's original design"

Also if you look close at the Image you can see it's a paste on :P

I Don't know what they charge but, way too much for a piece of paper
the size of a coin I'm sure :(

When the commerical first came out...it was $19.95...then I saw a commerical that was offering the coin for $9.95 and they added a second coin to it as well. It was an image on a Kennedy Half Dollar.

that's to make it look like it's a limited production by the mint.

I bet when you call,
if you say you want more
or even if you order 5

they say on the phone
they can give you as many as you want for a limited time
But you must order now :icon_pirat:

or Maybe under 5 isn't a crime but 6 are :P
