Ever bought an item labeled "Distributed by [name of company], U.S.A." and thought, "Okay... but where was it actually made ?"

Often, the first numbers of the bar code can answer that question. True, in some cases the country assigned the number(s) may operate in other countries, but it's still a pretty good clue as to where the product may have come from.

So, if you'd rather not risk eating chicken soup cooked in Kazakhstan, you might want to put that "487" bar code can back on the shelf.

Thanks PBK.
Good to know.
Last week I told my daughter to watch to see what country
the food she buys comes from and told her about three friends who were big fish eaters and are dead from cancer and some others have cancer. She went to the freezer and looked at the fish and it was from china.I will not eat anything from china. Now I'll send this on to her.
Thanks

If you don't know, what is barcode?
Please read...
A barcode is the image representation of data where data is represented using an image of bars(lines) and spaces. Barcode is mostly used in retail shops for products items. There are so many uses of barcodes such as for id cards and postal mail to identify product id, person or location.
