An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure....Use your detector or walking stick to clear your path and let the snakes know you are approaching . Don't put your fingers where your stick hasn't been . Most snakes in the US are not aggresive and will move away if forewarned of your approach.

Luckily snakes are not a problem here. I always where leather sneakers or leather boots and stay out the brush if possible.
