No rational explanation yet...latest sighting was from sooty cat tracks on the carpet by the fireplace... BTW Gypsey, isn't catnip mixed with salt at the four corners of the house considered a spell or magic in some way? My own gut feeling is the cat is alive and somehow figured out how to get in and out of the house via the chimney...

Somehow...

Without so much as being singed...

or asphyxiated....

Ok, I don't have a rational explanation yet.. but it will present itself eventually... I'm sure! :-\

Omni you gotta get a Picture of it.

? IF it's a ghost, You will either be able to see through it,
? ?or it will have a GLOW? ;)

UNLESS It's a VAMPIRE. then you won't see it in the picture?

And IF it's a werewolf it will have a star on it's forehead.

? But they Burn I think? ;D

If this is christmas past, I can't wait for christmas 2006, or 07
If cat can disappear into firey furnace without trace, smell of
hide or hair, then we can all feel like we can expect a revelation
for Xmas 06, and also 07 as well,...Don't you think ? ::) :o

Just a thought.

If this "ghost cat" showed reluctance to be touched but no malice toward any of the people there, it doesn't sound like a harbinger of evil to come. Now that it has been seen a second time and left little catprints on the carpet, we have a definite connection with the fireplace moreso than the inhabitants. Have a reliable company come out and check the chimney for poor draw which could lead to a buildup of gasses. Second, check to see if there are spots around the chimney which are getting too hot.
Seems to me that this could be a warning from a HELPFUL spirit.

WOW. maybe you should contact some ghos story writer, maybe they will pay, howver it would cool to have your name in a book.
I have about 15 ghost story books, and that is the kinda story people like to read.

There is a powder you can buy that glows under ultraviolet light. Sprinkle it all around the fireplace and wait a few days and then shine a "blacklight" on the fireplace. You should be able to trace the movement of the cat with it. Don't know what the powder is but the forensic lab at the PD use to use it . Monty

Pardon my skepticism, but a roaring fire in St. Augustine FL.? A massive fireplace in a house built in St. Augustine? Was this in winter, was it cold enough to justify a fire?

Perhaps a hunting cabin with a fireplace as the only heating means?
