True. Although I am more concerned with advances getting out to people, not who makes money off of it.
I'll leave you to your fallacious circular logic.
What can I say Pig, I agree. Archer Daniels Midland may leave a bad taste in your mouth when you think of the fat cats that run it, but when you think of the countless innovations that ADM has wrought through research it is evident that Capitalism is necessary for the innovative process to take place. Profit is the motovating factor for most of our inventions.

A deep space probe was launched many years ago with an engraved disc with Pi, pictures of a human man and woman, and some basic chemical and mathematical formulae. More got spent on the current and last presidents big money bailouts in one second than that probe.

Thats probably true, so let's keep pumping money into NASA's waist projects. $100,000,000 is a lot of money, no matter what we've spent in other areas.

I agree, I suggest while we're cutting NASA we cut Medicare and Military spending too.

If we can't spend it wisely, why not.

Back to the Basics

"Spending Money"

Where does this money come from?
Where does it go?

Comes from taxes? OK

Goes to, um people that pay taxes? OK

What am I missing?

Maybe the "goes to" column should include more into your favorite area of interest. OK
That is natural.

But does it go away? Like vanish? I hope not.

That is a beautiful thought Texas.
There was a child I knew in the 1990s that had bad problems.
He finally got to the top of the list and had his organ replaced.
Ronald McDonald house gave room and board to his parents in the city of the hospital.
I really hope you can help folks like you say.
NASA is not the only one getting Gov. dollars.

How about we just take 0.01% of the federal defense budget and give it to NASA.

That would be several TIMES their current funding level.

We are livin' here on earth now. We are havin' quite a bit of problems in case ya haven't noticed. I personally do not think that seein' if the moon has water on it should be a major priority right now. If there is water up there, it's been there this long, and I don't think it's goin' anywhere anytime soon. I'm just sayin' that this is one of those things that could have waited untill we could acually afford to do it.

I Agree,
But if that were the real reason,
We would have drilled.

You got is man....Makes far more sense that a big boom.....or little thud????

I believe there are other living beings on other planets..
There are so many things out there we have not
discovered yet and I dont think we need to be
trying to blow things up in space or on the moon.
What if alien life forms did take this " bombing "
of the moon as an act of war?
Can you imagine the consequences for that???
Someone said use that $79,000,000 for the
soldiers in Iraq or Afghanistan and it was also
suggested to use it to help the homeless and
hungry, I agree with both of those suggestions.
If God made the human race, dont you think he
also put other life forms on other planets?
That is my two cents worth on this subject,
even if its off tract a little bit !!!
