Re: 2 Loaves of Bread & a Gallon of Milk ?

Thing is I Live in a Bad spot Winter weather wise.

on top of a mountain,
I Have a semi Long Drive way.
& During Bad storms We are one of the
Last roads Taken care of.
and the Nearest Store is about 4+ mile away.

However Even when we Got Nailed with a 4 Foot Snow
fall, & Blizzard, the Neighbors who have Backhoes
were Here in town first thing in the morning
Digging Everyone out With no request of Compensation.

Had to sit for a whole 24 Hours :tongue3:

Seriously Nobody is going to starve in that amount of time.

Longest Power Outage I remember 3 days.
Still, Power outages don't Strand Motorists from
getting to the Store.

People who Live next door to a Wal-Mart Stock up
on Bread & Milk when a storm is Predicted. :D

down here in Florida we have something similiar with the hurricanes, what goes first at at mention of a cane coming is water, batteries and plywood. Of course all gas pumps are packed tilt they run out. We live in the country and our area was without power for 11 days one month when we got hit by 2 storms back to back. I of course had long since bought a 10k Baldoor generator and have it hooked up to the house, we bathed in the pool. people will do crazy stuff, they buy everything they can and people who really need it are wtihout, but when the storm passes, they all return the items
Yeah , I always wondered what they did with the plywood from the last hurricane . Don't they save it for the next one ?

another Thing I Always found Funny
about Pennsylvanians,

IF There is a 6" Snowfall
We will Travel 30 Mile over 2 Mountains to
get to work, But the Guy who Lives a Block away from work,
Can't make it & Takes a snow day :D

yes... most of us SMART people save it.... when you take the window dimensions
to Lowes and have them cut it all to size.... what else would a person use that wood for??
so yes...most of us save the wood...

It does seem that today the weatherman tends to play things up a little.

Not always, a few years ago we had a partly cloudy forecast and it turned out to be 22 inches of partly cloudy!

Lots of businesses caught by surprise and lots of shoveling unexpectedly! There were NOT many businesses even open that day as a result.

This was in central Kentucky.

Do you listen to local weather folk OR the National Weather Service? As local weather people don't have the ability or power to issue any advisories OR warnings, that's the NWS' gig.

We're still under a lake effect snow warning until 7pm tonight...already got a foot on the ground.

We manage and never take snow days.

Now ice storms are a completely different animal. One hit us a few years ago and we were w/o power for almost 2 weeks. I love our generator:)
